British/Korean duo Wooze were formed in 2017 by Jamie She and Theo Spark. The band’s name is a rough phonetic translation of ‘space’ in Korean, and thematically Wooze’s lyrics are rooted in the uprooted, covering memory loss, identity crises and a fundamental feeling of detachment in the world.
Their debut EP what’s on your mind?, firmly established them as one of the most original and exciting new bands in the UK, identifiable by their eye-catching and unique visuals as much as their genre-blending and enigmatic music that draws influence from the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Late of the Pier and Gary Newman. The band received plaudits from Spotify, CLASH, NME, MixMag, Dork and DIY and have been championed by BBC Radio 1’sJack Saunders, KEXP, Triple J and 6 Music’s Guy Garvey. They featured in their very own video game, supported Metronomy on a European tour, sold out a series of shows in South Korea and were named part of ‘The NME 100’ for 2020, all within a dizzying 12 months from their first release. Following a COVID imposed hiatus, Wooze return with their second EP in Summer 2021.
