Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Fairfield Halls is pleased to welcome the famous Estonian National Symphony Orchestra to play in South London's iconic concert hall. The programme begins with a work by the famous Estonian composer Arvo Part, who many regard as the world’s greatest living composer, in his serene tribute to Benjamin Britten ‘Cantus in Memoriam’. The orchestra will then be joined by the pianist Barry Douglas, who is another great favourite with Fairfield Halls audiences. On this occasion he will perform Rachmaninov’s 2nd
Piano Concerto which, without question, is the most popular piano concerto ever written. The concert ends with Sibelius’ Fifth Symphony with its glorious finale, inspired by a flight of swans above Sibelius’ country home where he wrote the symphony.
