Norman Harper started his career as a teacher, choral director, recitalist and accompanist. Norman was then appointed to the music staff of St George’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Southwark, where he served as organist and director of music.
Norman has played recitals at Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, King’s College Cambridge and many other venues in the UK, America, Europe and Australia. He has broadcast solo organ recitals on BBC Radio 3 and directed or accompanied numerous broadcast services on BBC radio and television. His latest CD Church bells beyond the stars, was recorded at St George’s Cathedral and released in July 2022 on the Signum Classics label. It consists of 20th & 21st century British music, including music from today’s programme.
