MasterChef Champion and Broadcaster Wynne Evans is starting his Christmas celebrations by joining the musicians of the Household Division on stage at Fairfield Halls on the 15th December.
Wynne, one of the leading Operatic Tenor voices in the UK and famed for his portrayal of the spoof opera singer Gio Compario in a TV advertising campaign, has agreed to swap characters for one night only and portray the part of miser Evenezer Scrooge, as he narrates the Charles Dickens tale almost 180 years to the day of its first publication.
There is no doubt that Wynne will also join everyone in a festive selection of singalong Carols for us all to enjoy – something to really look forward to.
Wynne is a great friend of The Household Division and has a very exciting year. After many gruelling and testing weeks of showcasing his cooking abilities, he was recognised for his natural and creative culinary skills and was crowned the Celebrity MasterChef Champion 2023. He has also competed against his long-term friend, Joanna Page, searching for antiques on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, and proved that he’s not totally ‘pointless’ as contestant on Pointless. He has also been presenting on BBC Radio 2.+
Throughout his 25-year operatic career he has been a principal at most of the major opera houses around the world, from The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden to Paris Opera De Lyon, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He sang the role of PIANGI in the 25-year anniversary performance of The Phantom of the Opera, which was broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall to cinemas worldwide, a venue where Wynne has also given over 200 vocal performances.
As well as being a trustee of Grange Park Opera and Patron of Ty Cymorth, he has an honorary Fellowship from the University of Wales, was honoured by the National Eisteddfod with the title of Gorsedd of the Bards, and was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours list.
