Youngsters invited to discover their musical potential this March at London’s only Yamaha Music School.
London’s only Yamaha Music School based at Fairfield Halls in Croydon runs two junior open weeks a year to give local children aged 3-7 an opportunity to trial a music class. Throughout the year, the school also offers a chance for children aged 7+ to engage with music through keyboard, guitar, singing and drum lessons.
Its next open week will be held Monday 18 March – Friday 23 March 2024. Taster sessions will be just £5pp and include 30 minutes of practical learning as well as 15 minutes of teacher demonstration and discussion for children aged 3-7.
Online booking for these sessions is essential.
The internationally recognised music school is operated at Fairfield Halls by registered charity BH Live. It currently has over 250 students enrolled, enabling pupils of all ages and musical abilities to engage in group and private lessons across piano, guitar, voice, and drums. Some courses are available to children as young as three years old.
Fairfield Halls also hosts a series of music school pupil musical showcases and intimate concerts to introduce more cultural and musical offerings for students and the local area.
Fairfield Halls is operated by BH Live in partnership with Croydon Council. BH Live is a registered charity and social enterprise.
Steve Turner, BH Live’s Director of Venues said;
“Since Yamaha Music School’s opening, we’ve had hundreds of young people take part. We have seen a fantastic rise in student engagement since its launch in 2019, andthe opportunities we provide – at London’s only Yamaha institution – are continuously expanding. It’s fantastic to be able to provide more cultural experiences for the region by introducing music to younger students. We can’t wait to see what these young musicians go on to do in the future.”
